Field Contract Manager – Nuclear Capital Projects
Job Description
- Coordinate and supervise multi-disciplinary trade and contractor teams for construction projects at nuclear generation facilities.
- Evaluate project phases, determine resource and equipment needs, and ensure adherence to safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
- Oversee day-to-day field contract administration, including contractor oversight, work planning, site logistics, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
- Enforce trades agreements and corporate policies, addressing workplace concerns and accommodations as needed.
- Support the Project Lead in managing site budgets, cost control, scheduling, and variance analysis.
- Facilitate contract lifecycle tasks such as RFPs, amendments, scope changes, and closeouts. Ensure compliance with contract terms, quality standards, and regulatory codes (e.g., OHSA, Nuclear Pressure Boundary).
- Lead job site safety and environmental programs, conduct pre-job briefings, verify contractor qualifications, and coordinate unionized labor activities.
- Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve field issues, align schedules, and maintain workflow continuity.
- Manage contractor payments, local procurement, site services, and materials logistics.
- Maintain accurate site records, support claims management, and participate in audits, self-assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Requires a detailed technical knowledge of contracts and specifications, building codes and inspections, electrical equipment and automatic control as related to construction principles and processes associated with nuclear generation facilities as well as project and construction management. This knowledge would be attained through the completion of Grade XII plus 3 years further concentrated study from a community college or by having the equivalent level of education through a recognized skilled trade apprenticeship program
- Requires experience in the construction, modification and maintenance of an electrical generation station, including experience in managing multi-union represented work forces. Requires experience with project management and contract administration to oversee and coordinate contracts. Requires experience to supervise staff while ensuring work is being done within plans, schedule, safety regulations, costing forecasts. A period of over 4 years and up to and including 6 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
