Job Description

Mechanical Engineer
Pay Rate: 70.00 - 80.00 per hour
Contract Duration: 6-12 months, with potential for extension
Work Location: Fort McMurray, AB
Work Schedule: 7x7 rotation, flights and camp accommodations provided
 
POSITION OVERVIEW
Provide mechanical engineering support for Tailings Assets, including spools, barges, valves, pumps, and related equipment. This role will support planning, execution, and follow-up activities for LSD work, NDE inspections, and maintenance projects, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct field walkdowns.
  • Develop piping scopes, drawings, and bills of materials (BOM).
  • Respond to RFIs and technical questions from operations, supply chain, and vendors.
  • Support root cause analysis (RCA) investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop spare parts requirements and post-LSD replenishment.
  • Develop and manage MOCs for Coarse Tailings, Fine Tailings, Drainage, and Wells.
  • Prepare SOWs for shutdowns, lifts, and spool changes.
  • Collaborate with the Reliability group to share data and support asset analytics (e.g., wear rates, service life).
 QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have P.Eng with APEGGA in good standing
  • 5-10 years in Primary Extraction or Tailings Operation
