Job Posting – Technical Specialist
Location: Darlington Nuclear Generating Station, 1 Holt Road, Bowmanville, ON

Job Overview
Darlington Nuclear Generating Station will undertake a Vacuum Building Outage (VBO) and Vacuum Building Inspection (VBI) in Q2 2027, a critical project requiring the shutdown of all four units. To support this effort, OPG is seeking a Technical Specialist to contribute to the assessment, planning, and oversight of VBO/VBI activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating tasks, processes, and systems to ensure work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards. Key responsibilities include risk assessments, task evaluations, performance monitoring, regulatory compliance reviews, and inspections. This role will play a pivotal part in ensuring the VBO/VBI is completed effectively and on schedule, minimizing economic and operational impacts to OPG.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct technical assessments of planned outage and inspection activities.
  • Perform risk evaluations, task analyses, and compliance reviews.
  • Support outage work planning to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory adherence.
  • Monitor execution performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and project teams to align activities with safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
  • Required: CANDU Operations experience.
  • Preferred: Former licensed operations position.
  • Engineering management experience with reactor safety considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of control, mechanical, or civil technology to understand equipment, systems, and material operations.
  • Experience in assessing and planning station work considered an asset.
