Job Description

Part-time in house at Detox Facility.  

Housing and travel allowance

The Nurse Practitioner is an integral member of the health care team who will provide and coordinate initial, continuing and comprehensive advanced nursing service to the community in the Detox Facility of this First Nation.  NPs serve the ethno-culturally diverse populations across the continuum of health care throughout the life span. The spectrum of health services provided encompasses: health promotion and maintenance of wellness, illness and injury prevention, health condition, and health care management of common acute and chronic illnesses, including ordering diagnostic investigations and prescribing treatments including medications.  

The NP will collaborate and make referrals to other health care professionals and participate in community development initiatives.
 
The NP will adhere to the SRNA Registered Nurse(Nurse Practitioner) Standards and Core Competencies—effective January 1 2011.  The NP practice will be based on the Core Competencies as outlined by this document.
 
The NP is always responsible and accountable for his/her own practice.   Each individual NP is responsible to maintain his/her own level of competence in their practice which includes but is not limited to mandatory education as required.

  • Ability to demonstrate appropriate decision making skills.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with clients and family members in regards to health findings, diagnosis, treatment options and self care.
  • Ability to collaborate with other health care professionals and work together in a team approach.
  • Ability to provide empathetic and respectful holistic care to clients and family.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong communication skills both verbally and written.
  • Ability to adapt to change.
  • Ability to show initiative and self direction.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use computers as well as a variety of clinical and diagnostic machines.
 
 Qualifications
 
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse—Nurse Practitioner with the SRNA
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing Preferred
  • Relevant clinical nursing experience
  • Level C Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Current Transportation of Dangerous Goods Course
  • Oxygen Administration Course
  • WHMIS
