Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced ServiceNow CMDB Administrator to support and enhance our Configuration Management Database (CMDB) operations. This role is vital to ensuring data integrity, supporting ITIL processes, and maintaining alignment with organizational objectives and best practices. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive data quality, maintain the CMDB data model, and implement automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
CMDB & Data Model Management
- Maintain and enhance the ServiceNow CMDB, ensuring alignment with organizational structure and CSDM standards.
- Collaborate with Solutions Architects to validate that the foundational data model supports application development and roadmap goals.
- Manage configuration items (CIs) and relationships across the CMDB to maintain accurate service mapping.
Data Quality & Automation
- Enforce best practices for data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all CMDB entries.
- Prevent CI duplication and ensure all integration points are current and functional.
- Utilize ServiceNow Discovery and other ITOM tools (e.g., Dynatrace) to automate CMDB population and reduce manual errors.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor CMDB health using ServiceNow health dashboards and remediate data compliance issues.
- Generate detailed reports and dashboards to communicate CMDB status, risks, and opportunities for improvement to stakeholders.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
- Serve as the primary liaison between infrastructure, application, and monitoring teams regarding CMDB-related issues.
- Facilitate open communication with stakeholders to provide updates on incidents, changes, and configuration improvements.
Compliance & Governance
- Maintain strict compliance with internal security policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Support audits and contribute to the development of compliance strategies aligned with ITIL frameworks.
- Ensure CMDB readiness to support critical incident, change, and asset management processes.
Continuous Improvement
- Conduct routine health checks of the ServiceNow instance and CMDB to identify optimization opportunities.
- Stay informed about new ServiceNow platform features and propose enhancements for CMDB functionality.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Strong experience with ServiceNow CMDB administration, including class modeling and CI relationship mapping.
- Proficient in managing data integrity and governance practices, with hands-on experience using the CSDM framework.
- Practical knowledge of automation and discovery tools such as ServiceNow Discovery, ITOM, and Dynatrace.
- Strong background in data analysis, mathematics, and technical reporting.
- Excellent communication skills — able to interface with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
Certifications
- ITIL 4 Foundation Certification – Required
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) – Preferred
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – CMDB – Preferred
