Projects Supported: Mahihkan SA-SAGD and Cold Lake Carbon Capture & Storage
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Project Advisor to join our Major Projects Division. This role is a subject matter expert in Project Controls, Planning & Scheduling, and Project Services, providing strategic guidance and technical expertise across major oil and gas projects. The Project Advisor supports the Project Controls Supervisor in improving tools and processes and plays a key role in mentoring and developing less experienced team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a trusted advisor on Project Controls and Planning for major projects.
- Establish and maintain strong interfaces with key stakeholders, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Produce or oversee detailed cost reports, including budgets, approved changes, commitments, and forecasts using historical trend analysis.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for tools, processes, and best practices.
- Mentor and guide junior Project Controls staff to build team capability.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management.
- Experience in Project Services, Project Controls and Planning
- Minimum 15 years of experience as a Project Controls Advisor on major oil and gas projections.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Multiple international project assignments; willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- Strong knowledge of project management frameworks and key work processes.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and influencing abilities; strong analytical and computing skills.
- Competent or Expert Proficiency in project management systems and tools (e.g., EMCAPS, project controls, execution planning, contracting strategy, contract administration, cost estimating, planning & scheduling).
