Director, Smart Plant Transformation (Industry 4.0 & Autonomous Operations)
Job Description
- Develop and maintain enterprise architecture for Smart Plants, integrating Industry 4.0 technologies (IoT, digital twins, AI/ML, autonomous systems).
- Lead the planning, governance, and delivery of large-scale digital transformation programs.
- Architect secure, scalable, and resilient solutions connecting operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT).
- Define data strategies, models, and integration frameworks to support predictive maintenance, real-time monitoring, and autonomous decision-making.
- Oversee the integration of robotics, edge computing, AR/VR, and advanced automation into plant operations.
- Drive adoption of Industry 4.0 practices, enabling smart manufacturing, self-optimizing processes, and closed-loop automation.
- Lead the design and deployment of digital twins for key assets and processes, enabling simulation, optimization, and remote operation.
- Integrate IoT platforms, advanced analytics, and industrial networks to deliver real-time visibility and autonomous response capabilities.
- Foster a culture of innovation and cross-functional collaboration across engineering, IT, and operations teams.
- Partner with executives and plant leaders to define transformation objectives, KPIs, and measurable outcomes.
- Lead change management initiatives to ensure adoption of new digital technologies and operating models.
- Facilitate workshops, training, and knowledge-sharing sessions to build digital capabilities across the workforce.
- Track, report, and communicate program progress, risks, and outcomes with transparency.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, regulatory requirements, and trends in Industry 4.0 and smart plant operations.
- Represent OPG at industry forums, conferences, and consortiums, sharing best practices and thought leadership.
- Mentor and develop internal talent, building a strong digital and innovation-focused workforce.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Automation, IT, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in digital transformation, Industry 4.0 program delivery, or industrial automation, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or architecture role.
- Proven success architecting and implementing large-scale digital, IoT, or smart plant initiatives in asset-intensive industries (energy, utilities, or manufacturing).
- Strong knowledge of plant operations, OT/IT integration, and cybersecurity.
- Hands-on experience with IoT platforms, cloud/edge architectures, advanced analytics, robotics, and AI-driven automation.
- Deep understanding of digital twin technologies, predictive maintenance, and real-time data integration.
- Expertise in program management, change management, and stakeholder engagement across multiple organizational levels.
- Recognized certifications (PMP, Agile/SAFe, TOGAF, or Industry 4.0-related) are highly desirable.
