Client: Government of Alberta – Alberta Courts, Court Technology Services
Location: Edmonton, Alberta (Hybrid)
Security: Enhanced Security Clearance required

Overview
Alberta Courts’ Court Technology Services team is seeking a highly experienced Senior Enterprise Architect to lead and guide the evolution of the Court Technology ecosystem. This role is responsible for defining and communicating the architecture vision, ensuring alignment between business goals and technology strategy, and establishing standards that support integrated, cost-effective, and scalable court technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture Leadership
  • Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise architecture (EA) frameworks aligned with Alberta Courts’ strategic and operational objectives.
  • Define architecture principles, governance, and standards to reduce redundancy and support consistent, secure, long-term technology investments.
  • Assess current-state architecture and develop target-state architectures that guide transformation initiatives.
  • Translate business needs, processes, and capabilities into actionable architectural models and roadmaps.
Technology Strategy & Advisory
  • Align technology strategies with business priorities across the Alberta Courts ecosystem.
  • Provide architectural oversight for major modernization and transformation projects.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, assess digital trends, and recommend solutions that enhance performance, security, and value.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Partner closely with executives, senior leadership, product owners, business analysts, solution architects, and technical teams.
  • Lead and facilitate discussions on architecture strategy, systems integration, technology standards, and solution design.
  • Guide solution architects and engineering teams to ensure solution-level designs align with enterprise standards.
Risk, Security & Optimization
  • Identify and mitigate architecture risks, ensuring alignment with GoA security policies and standards.
  • Support cost optimization efforts through reuse, consolidation, and reduction of technical debt.
  • Promote secure architecture practices, including alignment with OWASP guidelines and GoA security expectations.
Equipment & Work Requirements
  • Alberta Courts will supply all required computer equipment.
  • Work must be performed from within Alberta due to data and network security requirements.
  • Hybrid work model expected: typically three days per week onsite (including Tuesday and Wednesday).
  • Travel, relocation, and commuting expenses are not covered.
Security Requirements
  • Standard Criminal Record Check prior to onboarding.
  • Enhanced Security Clearance required (initiated and coordinated by the Government of Alberta).
Mandatory Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Eligibility for Enhanced Security Clearance.
  • 8+ years leading cross-functional agile product or project teams.
  • 5+ years architecting, managing, and maintaining enterprise technology platforms.
  • 8+ years experience gathering and assessing multi-domain architectural requirements.
  • 7+ years documenting application architectures in large enterprise environments.
  • 7+ years planning, designing, implementing, and supporting platform solutions.
  • 8+ years providing architectural leadership, planning, estimating, and presenting complex technical concepts.
Nice-to-Have Experience
  • 5+ years collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and optimize enterprise platforms.
  • 5+ years contributing to or developing architectural standards and best practices.
  • 5+ years designing or maintaining enterprise application architectures.
  • 5+ years experience developing solutions with amCharts.
  • 5+ years developing mobile solutions in an enterprise environment.
  • 5+ years experience with OWASP Top Ten and secure application design.
