Job Overview
- This role is supporting New Nuclear Development Initiatives.
- Occasional travel to other sites may be required (approximately 10%).
- Manage assigned projects or work packages through all phases of the project lifecycle, from initiation to closeout, in accordance with Project Management governance and approved corporate processes. Apply standardized methodologies for phase‑gating, integration, scope, schedule, cost, change control, estimating, risk, communications, and reporting to ensure delivery within safety, quality, budget, and schedule targets.
- Contribute to project planning and approvals by preparing background information, participating in scope, constructability, and risk reviews, and supporting the development of business cases and funding submissions. Review and accept project charters; develop and coordinate scopes of work, estimates, schedules, project and risk management plans, gate packages, and contract performance specifications. Establish and maintain cost and schedule control structures and ensure project requirements are fully captured through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate all required approvals, permits, licenses, labour resources, and design clarifications. Lead the preparation of specifications, bid packages, tender evaluations, purchasing recommendations, and contract administration activities. Chair and facilitate meetings with designers, contractors, suppliers, construction, and operations to align requirements and monitor progress.
- Monitor and report on project performance, manage changes, assess risks, and implement mitigation strategies. Review variances, recommend corrective actions, and resolve issues to maintain alignment with approved scope, schedule, and cost. Maintain regular communication with management, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies, and ensure proper documentation, turnover, and closeout of project deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with corporate procedures and maintain awareness of industry best practices, technological advancements, and internal standards. Support continuous improvement through knowledge sharing with internal and external project management counterparts. As required, provide functional supervision, assign and oversee work, and ensure accountability for results.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will bring 8–15 years of progressive project management experience, with a strong emphasis on early‑stage feasibility assessment for industrial facilities or buildings. Priority will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience evaluating site feasibility, including permitting requirements, utilities and services availability, environmental considerations, and associated field studies (e.g., geotechnical, environmental, utilities, and infrastructure assessments). Experience supporting industrial developments and/or preparing business cases for capital investment approval is a strong asset.
Project Management Expertise
- Proven experience across the full project lifecycle, including identification, initiation, definition, execution, and closeout.
- Demonstrated ability to develop project requirements and execution plans; prepare Class 5–2 cost estimates and schedules; and manage scope, risk, cost, quality, and schedule trade‑offs.
- Hands‑on experience supporting RFP development, tendering, contract award, and contract administration through execution and closeout.
- Track record of managing multi‑contract, multi‑stakeholder projects with schedule and budget constraints, and of increasing scope and complexity.
Technical and Industry Knowledge
- Working knowledge of industrial facilities, generation stations, or similar heavy industrial environments, including equipment, systems, and construction practices.
- Strong understanding of commercial contracting models, construction methods, applicable codes and standards, quality assurance, and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Sound knowledge of cost accounting, forecasting, and project controls applicable to capital projects.
- Experience addressing environmental protection requirements, regulatory compliance, and associated risks during planning and execution.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Strong problem‑solving capability with the ability to provide clear guidance and sound recommendations.
- Highly organized, self‑directed, and effective at managing competing priorities.
- Proven team player with the ability to coordinate and align diverse internal groups, consultants, contractors, regulators, and other external stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information to technical and non‑technical audiences.
Education
- A four‑year university degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a related discipline, supplemented by post‑secondary coursework in project management and business or economic analysis, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
