Project Planning & Scheduling Engineer – Refinery Projects
Job Description
- Develop, integrate, and maintain detailed project schedules for all project phases, ensuring alignment with approved scope and project execution plans.
- Support the Project Management Team (PMT) with schedule analysis, progress measurement, forecasting, and reporting.
- Review contractor schedules for accuracy, logic, sequencing, and compliance with project milestones, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), and control estimates.
- Identify and communicate schedule risks, trends, and deviations; recommend mitigation strategies to maintain progress and delivery targets.
- Prepare and compile weekly and monthly progress and performance reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure schedule integration and consistent progress reporting.
- Contribute to the development of control schedules, milestones, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Participate in bid evaluations, change impact assessments, and lessons-learned sessions.
- Maintain accurate documentation and schedule baselines within project control systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management.
- 5+ years of experience in project controls, with a focus on planning and scheduling within large industrial, refinery, or oil sands projects.
- Proficiency with scheduling and project control tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and communicate findings effectively.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills to support cross-functional teams.
- Ability to adapt to evolving priorities and manage multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
- Willingness to work full-time on-site at the Strathcona Refinery.
- Location: Strathcona Refinery (Edmonton, AB)
- Work Schedule: 5 days on / 2 days off (Monday–Friday)
- Hours per Week: 40
- Assignment Type: Standard (Contract – Contingent Labor)
- Duration: November 3, 2025 – November 3, 2026
