Senior IT Project Manager – Enterprise Systems (Hybrid)
Location: Oshawa, ON (Hybrid – 2 days per week)

Position Overview
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager – Enterprise Systems to lead the successful delivery of complex, multi-stakeholder technology initiatives.

This role is responsible for guiding projects through all phases of the lifecycle—from initiation and planning to execution and closeout—ensuring adherence to OPG’s governance, standards, and business objectives.

The successful candidate will manage diverse, high-impact projects, including enterprise software implementations, system integrations, cloud migrations, and organizational change initiatives, while fostering collaboration across IT, business units, vendors, and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Full Project Lifecycle: Manage all phases of the project lifecycle (Initiation, Planning, Execution, and Closeout) in compliance with OPG’s governance and quality standards.
  • Deliver Enterprise IT Solutions: Oversee the implementation of technology systems ranging from stand-alone applications to large-scale, integrated enterprise solutions.
  • Manage SDLC Projects: Direct all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, integration, and deployment.
  • Leverage Modern Delivery Methods: Apply Agile, Scrum, and Iterative methodologies to improve efficiency, adaptability, and project outcomes.
  • Engage Stakeholders: Collaborate with internal IT teams, business units, vendors, and senior management to ensure alignment between project goals and business priorities.
  • Bridge Business and IT: Build and maintain strong partnerships between business leaders and the CIO’s office, maintaining awareness of changing business needs, strategies, and initiatives.
  • Manage Budgets and Resources: Develop and monitor project budgets, control expenditures, and ensure optimal allocation of technical and human resources.
  • Mitigate Risks and Issues: Identify potential risks, dependencies, and issues early; develop and execute mitigation strategies to maintain delivery timelines and quality.
  • Develop Business Cases: Prepare and present detailed business cases, funding requests, and gate review documentation for executive approval.
  • Champion Best Practices: Drive continuous improvement through the adoption of project management best practices, lessons learned, and emerging IT methodologies.
  • Promote Team Excellence: Lead with accountability, collaboration, and transparency—motivating cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality results on time and within scope.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2, or equivalent certification (required or strong asset).
  • Agile certifications such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or PMI-ACP are considered assets.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in IT project management, leading complex enterprise technology projects from initiation through successful delivery.
  • Proven ability to manage multi-phase IT projects such as software implementations, infrastructure upgrades, data migrations, and cloud transformations.
  • Strong knowledge of project delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Iterative) and SDLC frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities of scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Advanced problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, with a focus on proactive risk management.
  • Proficiency in project management and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, and Azure DevOps (or equivalent).
  • Experience in change management, process improvement, and risk management disciplines.
